nopCommerce v4.9 Release is a Bit of a Beauty

It’s been a little while since we last shouted about a new nopCommerce release, but the end of October 2025 brought us the much-anticipated version 4.9 – and after putting it through its paces towards the end of last year, we’re happy to say it’s a bit of a beauty.

While every release brings some level of UX improvement, it’s hard to remember one that’s been quite as wide-ranging and transformative as this. The updates span both the storefront and the admin area, with new features including AI automation (yes, nop has joined the AI party!), a quote system, a mega menu, multiple wishlists and newsletter lists, Cloudflare image integration, and EAA compliance. Altogether, these enhancements move nopCommerce another big step closer to true enterprise-level capability.

Let AI Do the Grunt, Leaving You the Time to Apply the Finesse

Unless you’ve been completely off the grid for the past few years, you’ll have noticed that AI is everywhere right now. While we don’t believe AI should replace product editors, SEO specialists, or content writers, it is incredibly useful as a helping hand. Used to generate a solid starting point, it takes much of the heavy lifting out of tasks that can otherwise be very time-consuming. In this release, nopCommerce has introduced AI features in several areas to do exactly that.

  • Product Descriptions
  • Automated SEO Optimisation
  • Content Translation

You can choose from three AI providers for generating product descriptions and SEO content — DeepSeek, Gemini, or ChatGPT — and there are two additional options for pre-translating localised content: Google Cloud Translate and DeepL. For many of our clients, translating content into multiple languages can be both time-consuming and challenging, so this new functionality is a real game-changer for them.

nopCommerce Are Serious About B2B

Beyond the addition of AI, this release also introduces several B2B and enterprise-focused features worth calling out:

  1. Quote support makes its first appearance — and it’s a comprehensive one. Customers can request a quote directly from the shopping cart, admins can review, adjust, and send the quote back, and customers can then complete checkout from that approved quote.
  2. Multiple wishlists replace the single wishlist, giving customers the flexibility to create lists for different needs. This is especially useful for B2B customers who may want to build separate procurement lists, and these lists can also be used to support more targeted marketing.
  3. Multiple newsletter lists are now available, allowing store owners to better segment their audiences and tailor communications more effectively.

Admin Life Made Easier

If you use nopCommerce day in, day out, you’ll be pleased to know this release is packed with practical improvements designed to make life easier. Highlights include:

  1. A new bulk product editor that lets you update key product details in one go. Product names, SKUs, prices, sale prices, stock quantities, and published status can all be managed from a single screen.
  2. Topic scheduling, making it much simpler to plan and publish landing pages for upcoming campaigns.
  3. The ability to copy existing campaigns and use them as a starting point for new ones, saving time and effort.
  4. Searchable dropdowns that improve the user experience when looking for entities within long lists of items.
  5. Bulk email requeueing, offering a far more efficient way to resend emails than handling them one at a time.
  6. More granular permissions, giving you finer control over administrator access.
  7. An improved HTML editor, with Summernote replacing TinyMCE for a smoother, more user-friendly editing experience.

Small Changes, Meaningful Gains

In past releases, these features might have felt like major changes, but that’s a sign of just how far this version has come:

  1. Mega menu builder – long reliant on third-party plugins, nopCommerce now includes a built-in mega menu. It’s flexible for both developers and store owners, letting admins easily create hierarchical menu structures.
  2. Cloudflare image integration – images can now be served via Cloudflare, taking the load off your site’s servers. Cloudflare also optimises images on the fly, helping pages load faster and improving the experience for your visitors.
  3. Accessibility compliance – version 4.9 aligns with the European Accessibility Act, improving navigation, readable content, and assistive technology support. Enterprises can confidently provide inclusive experiences, reduce legal risk, and reach more customers.

Performance & Security

As with most releases, this update moves nopCommerce onto the latest version of .NET — in this case, .NET 9. It’s worth noting that .NET 9 isn’t a long-term support (LTS) release, so if you’re already running a .NET 8 version of nopCommerce, there’s no need to rush an upgrade just for that reason alone. Both .NET 8 and .NET 9 are supported until the end of 2026, and the next long-term support release from Microsoft, .NET 10, has only just arrived and will be picked up by nopCommerce in version 5.0.

Upgrading to nopCommerce 4.9

To make the most of all the improvements and new features in nopCommerce 4.9, we recommend upgrading your existing store. For most sites, the upgrade process is relatively straightforward, especially if you’re running close to the core platform. If you do have a more heavily customised setup, just drop us a line – we’ll be happy to talk you through the steps involved and help you get up and running on the new version.

Conclusion

nopCommerce 4.9 keeps up the platform’s promise of being a robust, flexible, and easy-to-use e-commerce solution, while also making a big leap forward in enterprise-level features. If this release is anything to go by, we can’t wait to see what version 5.0 has in store!
